We woke her up at 6:30 by singing Happy Birthday to her. She told us "thank you" with her eyes barely open. Then she asked us to cuddle her.....which rarely happens! She got up a couple minutes later and went out to the kitchen to see her presents. We let her open them right away so James could be a part of it before he had to leave for work. She got Frozen flip flops, a Frozen tambourine, a jewelry making kit, a pad of drawing paper, her first "knock knock" joke book (she loves to tell jokes), and because she is always asking very advanced (in my opinion) "why?" and "how?" questions we got her National Geographic Big Book of Why for kids -- I think she will love it!
She was so excited about everything she got and so sweetly told us thank you when she finished opening. She is usually very good about saying 'thank you', but something about the way she said it today made me feel like we are doing something right as parents :)
I never thought having her turn 4 would be emotional until sometime yesterday when I realized just how grown up she really is. To top it off, she was extra cuddly last night for some reason. She kept wanting to sit on my lap and told me several times, "Mom, you have such beautiful blue eyes; I think I wanna marry you" hahahahaha. I didn't bother telling her she can't marry me. I took it as her way of telling me how much she loves me.
She already had a little party with our playgroup friends on Sunday (which she exclaimed was the "best birthday party ever"), so I let her pick what she wants to do today....play at Monkey Joe's and get FroYo. She also gets to go shopping with her great aunt for some summer clothes, which she is looking forward to. I'm excited to watch her enjoy her special day!
